Founder & CEO Steve Bray saw that firsthand in the mid-1980s while working on construction sites in Southern California. He realized that contractors didn’t just need equipment — they needed people they could count on. People who solved problems, moved fast, and kept their jobs on track. So Power Plus was born on a simple concept: Don’t just sell equipment, solve the customer’s problem.

Nearly 40 years later, that small temporary power company from Orange County, CA, has grown into a nationwide problem-solving, emergency response company that reaches far beyond what anyone could have imagined.

Despite how large we’ve grown, the company still operates with the responsiveness and entrepreneurial spirt we were built on decades ago. We just do it for more people in more places now.

With nationwide operations and thousands of customers – including Amazon, Walmart, Costco, and half of the Fortune 100 – Power Plus teams are delivering power for everything from construction sites, hospitals, and data centers to retail distribution centers, disaster response operations, commercial facilities, and critical infrastructure.

For a while in the 1990’s, Power Plus even supplied critical power for global entertainment productions, including the Rolling Stones concert tour, Olympic events, and the Super Bowl.

We’re grateful that customers across the country rely on Power Plus as more than a vendor, they considers us their long-term power partner. One capable of anticipating problems, adapting quickly, and delivering solutions when the stakes are high.

Today, Power Plus delivers four core service divisions under one roof — Construction Services, Portable Power Solutions, Critical Power Solutions, and Designed Video Surveillance (DVS).

That means everything from temporary power, utility infrastructure, generator rentals, and generator maintenance & repairs to permanent backup power installations, fuel management, advanced video security systems, and 100% U.S.-based live monitoring. And the electricians, technicians, engineers, project managers, and support teams to make it all work together.

Different by Design

What makes Power Plus truly unique is more than our experience, equipment, or national footprint — it’s our mindset.

We don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions, inventing excuses, or making anything someone else’s problem. What we do believe in is listening. Asking questions. Walking the customer’s site or property. And understanding what they actually need. Then we roll up our sleeves, figure it out, and deliver a solution that solves the customer’s problem.

Sometimes that means designing a complex temporary power system for a high-density, mixed-use construction project. Sometimes it means restoring backup power during the middle of a category 5 hurricane. Sometimes it even means finding a legacy generator part on the other side of the world in order to repair a 50-year-old unit here in the United States. And every now and then, it means helping build a road up a volcano in Hawaii to a deliver a generator to a remote telecom site.

Whatever challenge each day brings us, it’s our problem-solving culture that makes Power Plus who we are. And always has.

Steve Bray started his career as an electrician working on construction sites throughout Southern California.
It was on these fast-paced, high-stress, critical jobs that he developed a reputation for figuring things out, working hard, and doing right by people. Things every customer needs, but not many vendors provide.

Steve founded Power Plus nearly 40 years ago.

As the company has grown, Steve has remained deeply connected to the Power Plus crews in the field, the operations teams that keep everything humming, and the empowering culture that defines the company. Steve built Power Plus around opportunity — encouraging employees to grow, lead, bring new ideas, and solve problems without layers of bureaucracy getting in the way.

During the uncertainty of COVID, Power Plus made the decision not to lay off employees because of the pandemic — a reflection of the people-first culture Steve has worked to build from the beginning.

As important as manning the helm of Power Plus is, the joy of Steve’s life is his family — his wife, four children, and four grandchildren. When he’s not home in his native southern California, Steve splits time between Wyoming and traveling to points around the globe to promote generosity and improve the lives of people everywhere he goes.
